The Liberty/reCommerce Connector Module allows you to tie your reCommerce enabled website directly into your Liberty4 Consignment software in 'real-time'.

Your customers and consignors will be able to see their items, transaction history, payouts and receipts directly from your website. Consignors will also have the option to 'print an item list' which will be directly mailed to them.  In addition, your consignors will be able to use their 'store credit' on your website to purchase products. Yes, you heard that right!

This module is a monthly charge and will be charged along with your reCommerce billing.

In order to use this module, you must either have a dedicated IP address or DDNS service set up for your store. This will allow your reCommerce store to easily talk to your Liberty database. You can use a service like 'NO-IP.COM' to get a free DDNS name.  They have a FREE DDNS service along with a more flexible paying option. Here's a quick checklist of things you need.

Also, to use this service you must purchase the Liberty Mobile License which will be installed on your computer by our support technicians. You must also allow external access in order for this to work.

Security Concerns

The Customer Connector Module AddOn for reCommerce offers a secure method for customers to access real-time information directly from your Liberty database.  The module communicates directly with the Liberty Mobile Service running on your Liberty Server utilizing the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol.  When the Liberty Mobile service is configured for external access, a single port in your firewall (used exclusively by Liberty Mobile) is opened for incoming communication.  Liberty Mobile functions as an API – it will only accept properly formatted requests, and in turn it will execute safe database queries that correspond with the incoming request.  This is a complicated way of saying that Liberty Mobile will only perform a specific set of operations on your data, and it will only do so if the request is presented in a very specific form. 

Liberty Mobile will also only perform actions from authorized sources.  There are multiple levels of authorization, all of which must be active and verified before the action will be performed.

In order for the incoming request to even be processed by Liberty Mobile, it must contain an API key, which is a series of alphanumeric characters that must be generated annually by Resaleworld and is encrypted with an algorithm that is specific to each store.  This value is entered into both the Liberty Mobile Service and into the configuration settings for the Customer Connector module.  This value is never transmitted in plain text. .  There is only a short time period for Liberty Mobile to process a request.  Once that time period has passed, the request is no good – that is to say that even if a request being sent to Liberty Mobile was intercepted and copied, it could not be reused.
